Michael MacLennan’s work spans the areas of sustainable urban development, inequality, alternative energy, climate change and transportation policy. Michael has a master of science in international relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science and an honours bachelor of arts in political science from Queen’s University. He has also studied at Sciences Po in Paris.
Michael has worked in a variety of research, advisory, client-facing and management capacities. His work has taken him to countries including Brazil, Canada, Spain and Zambia. He has also worked for the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights of the Republic of Macedonia and the United Nations Development Programme’s International Policy Centre for Inclusive Growth, where he supported policy-oriented research for green-growth policy in the Southern African Development Community region and for immigration reform in Brazil, and led a research team exploring the changing nature of the middle classes in Brazil and Latin America. Michael also serves as editor-in-chief of Policy in Focus magazine, which he led the redevelopment of in 2014.
Originally from Scarborough, Ontario, Michael has lived in six other countries and speaks English, Portuguese and French.
