Alanna Komisar is fascinated by big-data systems and how they can be used to see the invisible. As such, she is researching concepts in energy and knowledge management to gain further insights into energy data at a municipal level as part of her master of mechanical and industrial engineering degree at the University of Toronto.
Alanna has worked in commercial roles in consulting, product management and marketing at Bell Canada and FM Global. She has a bachelor of applied science in civil engineering from the University of Toronto and during her studies there she worked with a team of engineering students to launch the first U of T Sustainability Conference. Alanna was awarded the Enwave Design Award in Sustainable Engineering for the top sustainability-related capstone project in her graduating year and a University of Toronto T-Holder’s Academic Excellence Award for achieving the Dean’s List while competing on behalf of the school’s varsity rowing and Nordic ski teams.
