Intern, Studio Y
I am a Nigerian native, hailing from the sprawling metropolis of Lagos—city of resilience, diversity and diligence. I moved to Canada in 2007, and after attending high school in Ottawa at Ashbury College and completing an Economics degree at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA, I decided to continue my learning journey in Ontario.
I am excited by passionate people, opportunities to improve systems and interactions and situations that challenge my assumptions. I enjoy creative expression whether in the kitchen, cooking, or out of my closet, arranging an outfit for a night out on the town. I love travel, art, engaging in conversations about culture and society and bonding over good food.
Associate, Studio Y
I love stories, writing and great conversation. I joined Studio Y from the MaRS Centre for Impact Investing where I recently served as the Interim Managing Editor of SocialFinance.ca. Prior to my time with MaRS, I completed my undergraduate degree at Middlebury College in Vermont, where I was a member of the student-led LGBT organization, the NCAA Division I Alpine Ski Team and the College paper, The Middlebury Campus. Before attending Middlebury, I was a member of the Ontario Alpine Ski Team and attended the Country Day School in King City, ON. I’m passionate about social justice, equality and personal agency, physical and mental wellness—and coffee! If you have any questions about Studio Y, our team or myself, please feel free to get in touch. My Skype window is always open.
Interim Associate, Studio Y
I’ve been self-employed since I finished post-secondary school and I couldn’t be more excited to have joined the Studio Y team at MaRS. While finishing my degree in International Development at McGill University, I co-founded an interactive web firm, The Message Studios. We have been recognized with several design awards and Montreal’s Fondation du Maire entrepreneurship award. Leveraging my company’s success, I have lived and worked in a dozen countries. My entrepreneurial experience in emerging and developed economies has provided me with invaluable insight into global entrepreneurship and community action.
Director, Studio Y
A football fanatic and lover of all things blueberry or avocado, I joined MaRS from Deloitte, where I recently helped build the consulting business in the Caribbean while living in Barbados. My sandbox outside of work is CatalystsX, a youth-led community of people dedicated to building personal and systems transformation towards a better future where we have raised nearly $1M in funding. Prior to joining Deloitte in the Caribbean, I served as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Waterloo and worked at Family Services Toronto. I completed both my undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Waterloo and am a fellow of the School for Social Entrepreneurs-Ontario.
As an immigrant who came to Ontario in high school without knowing much English, I am fascinated by concepts like identity, belonging and potential. Reach out anytime.
